How about it Figg?? You confused me totally, not that it is hard to do lol

I think figgby ment that the values of shadows should be consistent as well as the values of midtone and highlights (that is how I read it anyway).

You have captured the essense of the flowers Illis..that's always important to me..The credible droop of the tulips the sparkling quality of the hydrangeas...I can understand how a darker background would bring out the subject..but I find the colours behind the vase pleasing and soothing to the eye..

Thanks to all who helped! I did enjoy doing the still life. Actually, still life is my favorite subject to paint.
