What is this?

My wife found this in a box. We could not find any info about this item. What is this? What was it used for? Name of it?

It would be great to use it in a historical painting if I knew what it was!!!!!
Help anyone?

Re: What is this?

Have you tried a Google image search? May not tell you what it is, but may lead you to a site that can.

Re: What is this?

Don't think you'll need to strain that pot Chris.

I think that is what one generally does with it.

Re: What is this?

A pot strainer, just what everyone needs.

When I was in NYC I decided to grow my own. I bought two lamps and had a few pitiful plants growing. Until I decided to help the plants, by giving it some plant food. Unfortunately the plant food contained a weed killer. Within a day or two it was all dead. As you can guess I don't have a green thumb. To this day I can grow cactus and orchids, thats it.

Go to google images - images.google.com. Click on the camera icon (search by image) Click upload an image, browse to it on your drive and upload. When it is finished uploading, it will show other copies of that image, or guesses what images are similar. You just have to look through those guesses.

Note if you have a very large image it takes forever, even with good network. I resize large images to about 600-800px before uploading.

IMO, It works well for paintings, if you have an image and don't know the artist or painting title. It works less well for objects. Sometimes the results are really funky.

Actually everyone does need one of the ones pictured. I have a couple of plastic ones. They drain the water off vegetables keeping the veggies in the pot.

Re: What is this?

Sno, I think you and I have very different ideas of what one NEEDS and what one WANTS.

I wash my vegetables with my hands, or just pour the water out of the pot.

I just got back from two weeks in Texas and Louisiana and was overwhelmed with the choices and the gadgets. I grew up in the states, so it shouldn't have been overwhelming, but I had to leave the grocery store in frustration. I wanted milk, oj and muesli, but the muesli was in the cereal isle and then again in the whole goods or ecological section, and there was 20 or more choices. It took 30 minutes just to cover 35 isles to find the three items, and to try to decide between them. I just wanted muesli, 2 or 3 choices would have been fine.
