This is a really cool piece because it almost looks like it's from the middle ages, like something from an old folklore book!

Hey Kerry! It's Ann from the Saginaw Art group, and I really did manage to find your thread here! This is great! Love the spots! You'll have to bring it to a meeting when it's done!

Re: Dragon Slayer enlargement WIP

I have been SO lazy and haven't done much art at all this week! No art, no money, so now I really have to work this week! I painted some spots on this and a bit on the dragon, but, mostly it hasn't changed much at all, so I'll post new photos after my next session with it. Sorry this is dragging out so long!
Bayou, Bill and Green tea, thankyou for the comments and yes, I've decided the hair stays plus I'll finish the mane down his back and thicken up the tail a bit to match. He has a lot more spots now, lol! I really hadn't planned for him to have quite so many spots, but I got a bit carried away with it.

Ann, I'm glad you found it! I planned to bring it to thurs. meeting but couldn't get enough time to finish it and I didn't want to present it to the group as a WIP! Should be (better be!) done in time for Feb. meeting!

The colors are gorgeous Kerry. The twist to the centaur's body is powerful in your composition! I keep coming back to check for your next pics to be posted because that February meeting seems a long way off!

Re: Dragon Slayer enlargement WIP

Hi, Ann! I did get to work on it last night, finally! Still isn't done but much further along and starting to get there! The centaur and the dragons head and wings are pretty much done now. I still have to finisht the dragons body and the fore ground. Might try to work more texture and highlights into the hair on the centaurs back and tail.

BRAVO!!! Kerry, this is great! Words simply cannot describe this one! In fact, you really have inspired me to open my oil paints again. I haven't touched them in years...

Re: Dragon Slayer enlargement WIP

Glad you guys like it! I'm having fun with it! Bayou...definately get back to the oils! LOL! OK, I am biased! I took a brief hiatus from oils a few years back and worked in everything but, including acrylic...ack! Oil paint dries too fast for me, so you can imagine what a pita acrylics were! I was so happy to get back to the oils!

Ah , the smell of oils , well I'm one who loves it , but my ' serious , realism ' gardener oil painting is on hold [ about half way done, its a self challenge at impressionistic realism] I can't get the full dayswork at it I need but your work is inspiring to 'pull out the oils'.
