moon dragon

well i've started another dragon drawing though why i'm choosig to do a pale drago on black paper thats very smooth i got no idea. This whenever it is finished will be Ithanial (his informal name) he's the dragon of the moons and stars, yes 2 moons as the realm he comes from has 2.
He is meant to be mix kinda of eastern and western dragons and personality wise he is hmm aloof a puzzle to most other dragons, yet he can be very sneaky. He has a sister informally called morwen she is the dragon of darkness and together they bring the night, their fights can be seen in the waxing and waning of the moons.
okay no idea when updates will be , work wise i have about 4 essays, one science paper to write, and presentation and some odd other little bits to do all in 10 weeks, so i shall work on this when i need a break or when i plain give up XD
tis hard to photograph silver pencil on black paper o.o

Good Lord, I think you are the Stanislavsky of Dragon Artists--you have a back story that's as good as any actor could conjur up for a character.

Regarding the drawing--I would be interested in how you constructed this dragon--they are like celtic knots to me--they look simple until I start trying to tie one myself.

Re: moon dragon

Looks like your off to a great start with this one. I really like the layout you've used for this. Looks like it's going to be a keeper for sure. I'm pulling up a chair for this one.

Peace,
AL

Re: moon dragon

hehe thankies all as for the back story ive had ithanial round now for over a year but only ever drawn his humanoid form same with his sister Morwen, they got created in roleplay and technically are chaosia's offspring XD plus i have my own little dragon realm in my head which needs populating XD the dragon gods is just an continualy ongoing project i have XD that and the creating of the species that live there.
s for his pose his slihtly hidden back leg may cause me problems i tried to do him laying down so leg sort of tucked under him o.o but looks okay currently well seen when i colour it, i will hopefully try and get some done done tonight but first work >.<
oh to jay as for how i constructed it umm thats alway a good one i usually start with idea for a pose maybe try to find some pics of dragons in that pose to help or sometimes i just draw usually work from head down and build a body as i go hehe sometimes can take several attempts to get the body that looks right for the head i drawn but they till one of easiest things for me to draw XD

Re: moon dragon

You go, girl. Looks like the start to yet another awesome dragon piece. And trust me, pale creatures on black paper are actually rather fun to do. I know what I'm talking about

As for the backstory, I really love it. I particularily like the way the sibling's responsibilities intertwine with each other. Very nice touch and very mythological sounding. I could well imagine this part of a people's mythology to explain teh occurances of nature.
I'll be sure to look out for an update on this one!

Re: moon dragon

Told you, lightly colored creatures on dark paper are fun to draw. And you rock with the medium. I love how the fur is coming out. Nice choice of colors so far.

I really like the wing colors. Maybe darken the folds in the wings...
