A new drawing of actor PETER CUSHING (Charcoal pencils on white paper at 18 x 24….cropped) and the reference photo I used.
April 30, 2019 at 11:18 am #820731Pete looks a lot better in your black and white rendering than in color. Beautiful work.

May 1, 2019 at 4:41 pm #820730A drawing based on another artist’s digital painting. Interesting – do you consider this like doing a master copy?
The original artists work is daring in a colorful, in your face way. Your drawing is more quiet, earthy, calm. Very well drawn.
Being born places you at a greater risk of dying later in life.
http://www.artallison.com/May 1, 2019 at 11:33 pm #820739I saw something I wanted to replicate in the hand and face but without the rest of the areas so I did that. I use charcoal pencils ’cause I can get more photo realistic with them and especially in black and white as I don’t have to deal with color.

From what I could find, the color image used is a colorized photograph based on the original black and white photo.
May 14, 2019 at 1:36 am #820741I never saw the b&w version of the photo…had I, I would have painted the portrait in color, or used colored pencils….I more often than not like to change the reference material a bit.
