2.5×3.5 watercolor on Saunders 140 lb cold press paper painted yesterday of this tropical hummer common to the Andes mountains, according to the reference of birds and blooms. His ear is violet hence the name. Its actual size is shown below.

Every time, I think I have a favorite you paint another one. I have about thirty hummingbirds and you’ve captured that look they have when they are eying each other. It immediately reminded me of the head bird in my garden. The colors are great too.

I have never seen this species of hummingbird, but you have captured the eye and head tilt so particular to other hummers feisty behaviour. Love the radiant quality you achieved on the feathers.
