Showtime

acrylic on 18" x 16" panel

This painting is on a 24 x16" panel, but I think I'm going to crop it to
18" x 16" which is what you see below:

comments welcomed

showtimeRealcrop

sometimes the simplest task can turn bad. I posted a 18x24 painting -"showtime"-but there was a part that wasn't working and the composition wasn''t the best - then looking at it online I realized that by cropping I could make a significant improvement - and since it is on a panel it would be just a matter of sawing. So i edited my message and uploaded the cropped versison.
Then checking my post I realized I uploaded the WRONG cropped version, so I went to edit again and insert the right one -- my internet went down - by the time it got back up my window for editing was over...

so -- here is the correct cropped version of the original

Thanks Greg. THis is the third time I've tackled this theme. The first painting was a small pano - 5"x21" that I was (am) very pleased with. So I decided to make a bigger version - a 40" x 30" on Yupo - that I also like - but that one was more about the volcano - which I think works - but I wanted one where the carnival was more prominent - thus this version - which I think is close but no bananna - I guess you can't go home again - or - you can go home once but not twice.

That depends on where you live. Carnivores are fun, aren't they?

Re: Showtime

A very different three-point-perspective. I like it very much.

Re: Showtime

Electrifying and exciting colors of the night! Agree that the volcano crop stands alone as its own subject.

Forgot to mention: I guess you had Pompeii on your mind when you conceived this piece. Interesting. People are having fun completely oblivious to the fatal danger nearby.

I usually wait till I'm ready to frame before I crop the panel - keeps my options open till the last minute.

Pompeii, Krakatoa, Kilauea and so on. The scene is a simile for life in the 21st century.
