Hello Everyone!
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been busy painting trying to get ready for some upcomming shows.
I rendered this portrait from an old 5x7 photo I took years ago of a friend of mine who modeled for us during a workshop session. I always loved how her dress and all over body language sent a very confident message. Unfortunately, the digital shot of the original photo is not very good, you can hardly make out the various references, but hopefully you can get an idea of the reference. I made some changes to the original, I added a pin in her hat and opened her eyes up a bit more. I think the overall look is what attracted me to this pose in the beginning, I loved her confident aire and I felt the predominance of black to be most challanging.
It was done on a full shett of 400 U-Art paper, with a large selection of both hard and softpastels, including a very small use of pastel pencils.
Hope you like her, C&C's always welcomed!!
Marlene
