Did you use the fixative trick to continue adding color?

Yes. What I used darkened values a little bit. Could you recommend a good fixative that does not?

Thanks for clarifying that point. I really do not paint in pastel, I tried it sometime ago, but I used to draw in pencil and my favorite fixative was Winsor & Newton pencil and pastel fixative:
