Hi ctcummins. Glad to see you back 'round here.

I would think maybe some darkness in the middle to push the mountains back just a bit would help, or some mist over the top of the background mountains. I got kind of confused on whether or not the left side was in front of, or running with the mountain.

Beautiful painting!! Love the brushwork.

Hi CT, yes, it's reading abit better. Sorry for just now getting back to you!!

Top reads better. Is the left side part of the mountain, or in front of the mountain? FWIW, I'm still confused there, but could just be me, and please forgive me, not my intention to offend anyone. But, If the left is in front of the background, you need to push the mountain away from it to separate it [values just behind the left]. If it is in fact running with the mountain, then I think you are very very close.

Oh, and good luck on the competition, I totally forgot to say that before

Moran

If you look at moran and church and Beirstadt or Aspevig for that matter you'll see they try to create one tallest tree and build their esign around that-two create balance -in a very safe way.

Hi Tina,
Okay I am so cornfused.. THe trees in the front are in the front
the montain on the left right behind the trees is in front of the background mountains.
Are you talking about the snow that is right at the top of that
Im not sure where you are talking about.. Id like this to be as perfect as possible so its no offense. Thats why i posted it.

Hi CT, LOL........now I'm confused. The green ridge just behind the tree on the left : Is that separate from your background mountains? Your trees are marvelous btw!!! If I was at home, I would put a pointer on the area I'm talking about, sorry for confusing. And please remember, it's just my opinion - I'm not an expert. But if the green ridge is separate from the background mountains, some depth between the ridge and background mountain would help to separate them.

I hope it didn't confuse you further !! It's a gorgeous painting!!!

Tina,
Okay I see now what you are saying.. I think I dont want to cool down those mountains for fear they might fade away.. but
at warmth to the mountain in front.. The day I was there it was
just so overcast and the separation of mountains was as apparent as on a clear day to my eyes.. Did a loose sketch and
shot a little pic from camera.. Now its 2 years later to do the painting... This is hard........TO remember from your notes and sketch.

Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!
