Painted improvisationally, which is a process I’ve been exploring. This could be turned other ways, too. 20×16, acrylic on stretched canvas. C&c will be appreciated, including comments about composition, color and contrast. Thanks for looking.

April 6, 2020 at 8:17 pm #971778I like the transparent orange bands. They pull your eye ba k to the centre of the piece.
C & C is A-OK!

April 6, 2020 at 8:38 pm #971773Thanks. I felt cheery when I painted it. I think magenta on pink is a cheery combination.

April 8, 2020 at 1:32 pm #971776Here is the painting in a different orientation. I think this way is more dramatic. What do you think?

April 9, 2020 at 6:14 pm #971771This orientation looks a lot better to me.

May 8, 2020 at 12:40 pm #1275163I made a post and Carly replied to it, but it seems to have gotten lost in the transition to the new site. So, here is what I did to the painting, I changed the upper orange area to black, with some sgrafitto into the black to reveal some orange. I like it better this way. I also changed the name to Magenta-y. Your thoughts? Thanks for looking.

May 8, 2020 at 12:45 pm #1275170Unfortunately, the new site has drastically cropped my image. Does anyone know how to prevent that from happening? The image was less than 300kb.
--David
May 8, 2020 at 3:43 pm #1275290But if you double click the image then it displays without the cropping. Weird.
