Talking P&I forum challenge: October 2019

Welcome to our forum challenge for October in which we continue our encouragement to Draw from Life!

The aim is to capture our own personal and individual moments and share them here on this thread!

All suggestions/subjects/themes come from those who participate!

** As you post your own drawing in this thread, please then also suggest ONE subject/topic for next month. One entry = One suggestion for the following month .... another entry? - another suggestion!

By the end of the month we should have a range of ideas from which you can choose – and please do feel free to discuss any of the suggestions raised: who knows, you may even start keeping your own private list for future ideas!**

One important rule -Entries must be at least 75% pen and ink in any colour - and wash or colour may be added.

Your topics for this month are:

a houseplant

a backyard (or park, or...) water feature (pond, fountain, etc.)

seashells.

a musical instrument

favorite hot drink

appliances

something to do with Hallowe'en.

skies.

a medieval beast (dragon, sea serpent, unicorn etc)

Something with text

an endangered animal.

It's also 'INKTOBER' month - and Jake (Inktober's originator) has said you do not have to use only his Prompts, so I see no reason why some of these drawings cannot also be used for your Inktober entries too!

Enjoy your drawings!

Re: P&I forum challenge: October 2019

This is my something with text and also is x-posted from the Inktober thread.

Quack. Dip pen, 5x5 inches, with a touch of color at the throat put on with a brush.

For next month, something feathery.

Virginia I thought your previous letter was good but this is even better. I really like the contrast in style between the letter and the duck.

"Clouds" done on 6-1/4" x 9" (~16x23 cm; field is 5-3/4" x 8-1/2") Fante 70# (114 gsm) watermarked high-rag content tinted paper using Staedtler Mars Professional 0.25 and Pigma Micron 08 pens with Stabilo CarbOthello white pastel highlights:

Suggestion for November: an animal of any kind, real or imagined (while acknowledging that an imagined animal might stretch the "Draw from Life" edict, alternatively it might equally well satisfy the "personal and individual moments" criterion, depending...).

And a belated thank you for the C&C comments on September's post.

I love your style Skip, it's beautiful. Your clouds are amazing, so solid yet full of movement.

Nice Potters! Your box and the shading is wonderful, you did that so well. I love tea too, right now I'm drinking chamomile and mint.

Re: P&I forum challenge: October 2019

Thanks Viginia, as you can see I've combined this one to use on the inktober thread. As I can't draw animals or do calligraphy it's pretty basic. I do think I'll be off to the library when I get home next month to see what they've got in on the way of calligraphy instruction.
Next month - something to keep you warm☺

I like your husky, that's clever! It's so cute too.

Those are pretty, Bonnie. I really like how you shaded the garden fountain one. It's such a beautifully loose drawing but I can still make out so many details.
