Re: P&I forum challenge: December

That sounds great, Mike! We seem to be having a warm spell here but I know we're going to get hammered once January comes.

Here's one of my Christmas bulbs, done with a dip pen and a wee bit of brushwork. Excuse the lousy photo, took it with my cell. This is an old ornament, I've had since I was little. It's meant not to be round, it's blown glass and its shape is a little off.

For next month, how about a knickknack that has some meaning to you.

Re: P&I forum challenge: December

Thank you! It is on black paper. It's a sketchbook with all black paper.

Hope everyone has lovely holidays!

Re: P&I forum challenge: December

Hi Mike, like the mouse, lovely drawing.

I've been told that sticking your nib into a potato for ten minutes is a good way to clean a new nib, I've not tried it myself I prefer to burn them off and keep my potatoes for eating😊

Why did this motif inspire me? I don't know, but it was probably the relief of finishing wrapping the presents. A little colourful I know but it is Christmas. Inktense Sticks used for washes, Lamy EF nib and Noodlers for drawing in 6x6 sketchbook.
Best wishes to all, especially Maureen for keeping us in order.
Next month - something you got for Christmas.

Re: P&I forum challenge: December

Love that! The shadow of the cable is so good.

I have very similar wrapping paper. I've heard the same thing about the potato but I wonder if it would bend the nib. Raw potatoes are pretty tough!

Happy Holidays to everyone.

Re: P&I forum challenge: December

I met a mouse from an antique land
Who said: "A vast and towering flower
There stands. Nearby, in the sand,
Half buried, a garden trowel rises..."

(With sincerest apologies to Shelley...)

Pen-and-ink (Sakura Pigma Micron 005 & 05 sepia and dark brown) on 6" x 9" (~15 x 23 cm) ColorBok 76# (207 gsm) bristol.

Suggestion for next month: drawing of a (small) table clock.

And best wishes to all for a Happy New Year.

That's great Bonnie, I want to rub her tummy.

Skip, I'm a sucker for poetry, that was pretty darn good. I love the way you fill spaces. The wood grain and the flower petals are so interesting!

Re: P&I forum challenge: December

Skip, I'm sure Shelley would have approved, especially accompanied by this beautiful interpretation!

That is one very fine drawing!

Bonnie ... are you sure the 'mouse' hung around long enough to draw this? ... good portrait of your astonished cat!
