Big Healey

Took my small Healey (Austin Healey Bugeye) down to a local classic car garage on the weekend and had a good long chat with my friend who runs the business.
He had been recently restoring a Big Healey (Austin Healey 3000) for an old mate of both of us who had recently unfortunately contracted a nasty cancer and did not have too long to live apparently. He wanted his car restored and to have a final drive in it and Andrew was doing his very best for him. He knew I drew pics of cars so asked if I could do one of the car to give to the unfortunate owner with the restored car. Naturally I agreed and have started that pic already with only a 2 week timeframe. It'll be a push but Im doing it as fast as I can. Its a complex pic tho so requires some concentration!

this is the start

Im beginning to hate wire wheels!

Re: Big Healey

Sad story. Really nice gesture from you. I am sure he will treasure it during his remaining time and after that his family will have a beautiful memento.

Re: Big Healey

Sorry to hear about your old friend. Cancer sucks. This picture will be something he and his family will treasure. The work you've done on the wire wheel and grill is outstanding! I love the way this is coming on.

Re: Big Healey

been working hard on this.
The actual car colour is a super dark purple. almost black. The commissioner wanted to show that so the sun beating harshly on the top brings out the purple and blues and I hope relieves the black.
Just the top and then some white touch ups to do.. should only be a couple more days.
