I like the pencil tins!

Until the Faber-Castell polychromos, I've bought all my colored pencils in sets. With the PC, I bought a few at a time until I had a whole set. Now I'm here with the whole set, using a pencil case (I've tried three, dislike them all for various reasons) wishing I had the 120 tin.

Does anyone know if those (just the tin) is sold separately anywhere? I couldn't get an answer from Faber-Castell. Thanks.

No they do not sell the tins. But some other companies sell generic tins for pencil sized stuff. For example http://www.dickblick.com/products/ca...pty-metal-tin/

Have you tried ebay? People sell all kinds of things there. I have seen rusty nails for sale on ebay. Maybe somebody is selling used pencil tins.

Re: I like the pencil tins!

I have two empty 60 pencils tins from Faber Castell, I do not use them, I prefer the Derwent pencil case. If you want and are willing to pay for postage I can send them to you.

If you live in Germany and prefer new tins, Gerstäcker sells empty Faber Castell pencil tins.

See that's perfect. But I can't find anything to fit a large set.

That's very kind of you. I love Germany. Was born there, but I'm in the U.S. It probably wouldn't at all be economical. But thank you, very much What do you prefer to store yours in?

I will inquire, I checked the webpage of the local post and apparently it'll only cost about 7-17€, that's not too much. I'll go ask.

I store my pencils (Faber Castell Polychromos and Pitt Pastell) in this pencil case:
https://www.amazon.de/Derwent-230067...derwent+pencil

I love it so much; I have two of them, one for the Polychromos and one for the pastels. One of the best decisions I ever made concerning pencils

So, born here, eh? Sprichste Deutsch?

That bag is nice. I've not seen one IRL. I did look it up though and our Amazon carries it also.

and thank you again, but I don't want to trouble you. I will solve this.

I speak very little of the language. Mostly some swear words picked up from grandparents lol, endearments and a few important things like: wo ist die toilette? LOL

Re: I like the pencil tins!

And I did finally hear back from Faber-Castell. In case anyone is interested, this is their answer:

Thank you for your interest in Faber-Castell and the Art & Graphic Brand.

As all of our sets and tins come pre-filled and sealed, and are not assembled here, replacement or extra-supply empty tins are not manufactured or available for sale. The tins and cases are only available when purchased as a set.

Sincerely,

Live and learn. Next time I want a set of something, I won't buy them a little at a time.

You are not troubling me, I do not offer without meaning it. This being said, I hate pushy people, so I won't be pushy myself. If you want I will go inquire at the post office tomorrow - totally non-committal - and tell you what they said. If you say you don't want to, fine with me, too

The Derwent pencil case really is wonderful and it accommodates 120 pencils easily. I find it much more handy than the tins, because it is not in the way; I lift it onto the table by the handle if I need it and flip through the pages without it taking up too much space. The tins were not half as practical, but to each their own. Definitely high recommendation on my part for this pencil case, though.

Swear words, of course, ha, ha. But German swear words are comparatively weak. If somebody here is really angry, they resort to good old English swearing. None better than them English folk

Or do it like me.. my pencils live spread 24/7 over the desk (the desk had a negative bevel that makes very hard for pencils to roll out of the table :P

I have a Pug dog, he does not climb on the desk but he is for some reason super scared of any drawing materials. IF one falls in the ground he runs between me and the material and starts to bark at it until i "aprehend it"

Re: I like the pencil tins!

I keep my set of 12 Derwent Graphic's and my set of 24 Prismacolors in their tins. They stay at home. I have a 72 piece set of Ohuhu's that came in a heavy cardboard tube. So I bought a BTSKY 72 pencil organizer which is working out well. I find it much easier to get the color I want and they are kept more secure when you are "out in the field" so to speak. The case fits in my little tool box with the rest of my supplies so I can just grab it, a sketch pad, and off I go.
