Pushing an F5000 race car

Hi, its been quite a while since I called in to this forum! (been busy painting portraits and aircraft for some months!!
But its time to get back to the pencils so Ive started a study of a race car driver pushing his car in the pits with his crew behind the car.
Its from a ref pic photo I took in the 70's so in effect.. all mine!

Its obviously a work in progress so enjoy.

Re: Pushing an F5000 race car

Thanks for kind words chaps..
Little bit of progress sunday evening...

This is made tricky because the original photo is black and white only so Im using about 4 other photos to get colors right and extraoplating the rest. My intention is to leave the figures black and white however to 'pop' the car only...

Re: Pushing an F5000 race car

Final scan of the picture.
This shows the NZ racing driver Graham Lawrence and some mates pushing his F5000 Lola T332 race car back to the pits. Polychromos and prismacolor with hard faber castells for blending. After signing, sealing and scanning I cleaned up the background by effectively deleting all color and leaving it a perfect white. Im pleased with the decision to only color the car myself!

Hope you all like it.

Re: Pushing an F5000 race car

just out of interest I contacted the driver (who is still with us!) to help identify the other chaps. He was very helpful and happily accepted the first print of this image. Great stuff to make that connection!
