Shade Trees

Hi all, this was a rather ambitious project for me as I am kinda new to oil painting, but I'm really happy with the way it turned out. The photo quality makes some of the highlights a little intense.

22x28" oil on canvas
C&C welcome.

Thanks for looking, Brad.

What a novel portrayal! Very interesting. Well done - good painterly work.

Really captures the contrast between sun and shade. Nice one.

Re: Shade Trees

Fantastic work. Reminds me of John Singer Sargent quite a bit.

Re: Shade Trees

Regarding Sargent, I will not take that compliment seriously, but appreciate it just the same. Thank you!

Re: Shade Trees

This painting has a pleasing, flowing composition, my eyes go from the figures to the bright grass, to the cows, back again. Your dark values make very interesting shapes.

Re: Shade Trees

Hey Brad: Nice one.
Maybe put this one in Southwestern art forum as well?
I like the way the front cowpoke invites us into the scene.
Great light.
