the wings are being a royal pain in the rump! it seems that big G (thats gravity...)has a problem with me making a wing that stands out in mid air, but i shall overcome.

I think if you sand the paint surface a bit the mache' strips should adhere OK.

Have you tried using something to support the wings until they are dry?

leaflin, thanks for the advice. wish it had come a little sooner, cuz i already have the whole surface re-covered.as far as the wing goes, i have overcome my little gravity problem.i just had to get enough layers hardened up to hold the weight. now i have a dragon with 3/4 of a wing. I need to construct the other one and get it attached.that'll be my next step.

thanx crissy, the eye was done with a little wooden cap, used to cover a screw-hole in a piece of wood. the negative space i created for the eye was the perfect size for it and it looks pretty good. better when i paint it. my problem right now is that my camera died, so i can't post any updates till i get it fixed...GRRRR!
and with money being tight like it is right now, it may take awhile...and needless to say , Draco" won't fit on the scanner bed.

Man! I wish I'd seen this sooner! Looks AWESOME!

It's been a LONG time since I've done paper mache (like 7th grade art class) and I'm curious exactly how you made the wings... did you use like 3 pieces of clothes hanger and then just paper mache over those? Can't wait to see more!

yes steve, that is exactly how i did the wings!Gravity gave me a few set backs, but i eventually overcame that obstacle. i wish that i could have worked on this alot more, but food on the table is a higher priority right now. so i work on it when i can.a little more wing work, then it's detail and paint. dunno what colors yet. i was thinking of a black dragon with gold wings, but then i changed my mind( a hundred times) so it's still up in the air...
i actually contemplated covering the wings with feathers...doubt that'll happen, but you never know...
