Durango-Silverton Waterfall

Critiques please. This is on the new Arches Oil paper. A new product by them. They they sent me some sheets. I like the texture and effect. It travels easily and dries quickly. Like all Arches products it's fairly expensive but it has very nice qualities and acid neutrality. Good dry brush and wet into wet techniques. Just tape it onto a board to paint -- then mount later.

How did Arches compare with the Canson Canva-paper that you mentioned using?

Where do you find these wonderful waterfalls?? These two paintings, the one above and this one, are both done so expertly! Good work, and beautiful. A lot to capture in one painting!

I like painting on 160 lb Arches but I hate having to stretch it first. Does this new paper require stretching if you use a lot of glazes?

My only critique is with the white highlight on the farthest falls. It suggest a spot of direct sunlight, but that doesn't match up with what the viewer's eye unconsciously sees, given the block of trees between the sun and the sun's highlight. It would make sense if it fell across the higher edge of those falls, or maybe was placed in a way that demonstrates the presence of the trees by contrasting against their shadows, but with a white spot right in the middle of the falls where one would expect shadow causes my eyes to disbelieve the image.

Do you have a photo of the falls you could also post?

Only thought is perhaps the lowest falls seems to have too straight of a edge on it?
