Very good use of a pour Dianna. You don't remember your dreams because they fly away, close the cage.

Nice work Bill. I would not want to have to wake her up, could be dangerous.

I still didn't finish mine. Long story short, hubby put a hole in his truck tire and that led to me driving all over the countryside for most of the day. I didn't feel like doing anything when I got home.

Yeah,I am srre I would have enjoyed it, too. But a DUKW was never intended to be driven by an untrained person full up with thirty-one untrained civilians. Very low freeboard and marginial stability at the best of times.

Nice pour, Dianna. Very dreamlike.
Susie, I'd love to be a fly on the wall and follow you two around

Re: July Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat!

Hello World! Sunday morning, Tassie time...

It is always interesting to see the different posts. Pouring? I might give that a go soon.

Meanwhile from the asylum:

Dreams come and go. Certain dreams add to those that came earlier, from stories, like when my father witnessed the flight of Lancasters to bomb Hamburg that caused a vortex of 800 degrees and the inferno vaporised 40,000 souls.
I am unsure of the reciprocal gaze and in an oil painting I'd be tempted to regress the impact except for those tears of blood streaming.

Raw Yupo full sheet, Stabilotone 'Woody' only, Stabilo Aquarellable 8046

I visualise an effort on canvas for just the foreground and everything behind in a weird suspension, tunnelling light.
The child character deserves changes made so as to convey a sense of comfort in an ambience of warmth.
If ever you have experienced the fall into light you'd get the feeling of embracing calm and the light has a greenish tinge.
This design needs to be stretched wider to bring better impact.

Raw Yupo full sheet, Stabilotone 'Woody' only, Stabilo Aquarellable 8046

Here I am experimenting 'dream' ideas halcyon wise because it pays to experiment to see where I end up.
Imagine the creative invitation to go the Expressionism way...

Raw Yupo full sheet, Stabilotone 'Woody' only, Stabilo Aquarellable 8046

Okay, I'll admit to a hangover from last months dragon theme that teased me to do it.
Just doodling without any intension to go further with it. Yet I might...

Raw Yupo full sheet, Stabilotone 'Woody' only, Stabilo Aquarellable 8046

Full sheets of Yupo are about 65 cm x 93 cm 410 gsm card and I use the entire field of play.

Dreams and how to view them were discussed from the very beginning of my atelier life.
Although I usually start out in a representational way the exercises often morphed into the Surreal and Expressionism.
Vlaminck had quite some sway way back then, so did symbolism…

With regards to dreams my education was a little bit ‘out there’, although village centric.
We liked Chagall’s lack of gravity. Dreams were like that. No gravity at all.

I have not had time to begin oil painting but if I do I'll post to share how I go about attaining my dreams in colour...

Cheers,

Here is mine, inspired by an actual dream which was influenced by rpg games. A dark, torch lit tunnel with treasures and who knows what around the corner.

Painted with Procreate on iPad.

Michelle, that looks like a game I would play, I want to know what's around the corner.

Bill, Aribeth looks so peaceful. How beautifully tranquil.

Susie, I think I'd have a blast shopping with her! Always good to have a wild friend when you shop. That's a good dream.

Pieter, your doodles are amazing. Incredible work!

Dianna, hope all is well with Terry! Love the acrylic pour, that looks great.

Go way back Bill. I think those dreams mostly came from Blade of Darkness.

Re: July Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat!

Hi guys,
Zaadz in the Tassie Dreamery here...

Just a quick note to say I am right into the 'Leaf by Niggle' caper.
Dreaming in overdrive. Here's a couple I just photographed:

Niggle is working late and is having visions in Mr. Parish's potato field... as one does if gleaning spuds...

Anyway, if I'm conspicuously absent you know I'm dreaming the dream.

CYA all when I finish dreaming - Cheers,
Pieter Z

Re: July Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat!

Hi everyone!
Terry's operation went well, the traveling was an adventure, missed a flight but we eventually made it, a day late but all's well that ends well.
The hotel they put us up in is nice and it is only about 3 or so blocks from the Hospital so it's a nice walking distance for me to go there everyday.
It was a bit scary yesterday as they have the screens with the code for your person and color codes you can check to see where they are, well the waiting area was full, then less full, then everyone but two other people were gone. The numbers from the bottom of the list, who went into surgery after him were all in rooms now and Terry's code was still yellow, out of surgery but not the pink code so family could see him.
Finally when I was the second to the last one left, they came out to talk to me and said he was ok but he would not be moved to a room for a bit.
About 6pm or so he was moved to a room and I saw him, and they walked him around the room a little. Today will start the Physical therapy.
