I started this journal in early spring, and it’s proving to be an absolute joy. I record the flora and fauna we see in our own garden, and on our very frequent outings to nearby historical/botanical gardens.
I make the 20x20cm spiral-bound books myself using HP watercolour paper. I’ve tried about 5 different papers and Saunders Waterford High White suits me best, so now I only use that.
I use watersoluble pencils with dry coloured pencils on top (mix and match all the brands). I occasionally use watercolour paint for backgrounds but mostly I just use the watersoluble pencils with my Caran D’Ache textured palette, so I can create washes and wet blend effects just like watercolour paint.
