As always, I’m intrigued by your subject choices, and amazed by the size at which you chose to work! Can’t wait to see how this project progresses.Teresa
http://teresawentzlerart.wordpress.comApril 20, 2018 at 9:55 am #607831the project from the bucket list is called “Metatropolis”, and projected to be on a canvas of 48″x78″ and visualizes an idea have had from the 70s and not dared to try for until now for the magnitude – what if FLW was commissioned to design a cliff city on, say, the Grand Canyon or similar… that is why this a prelude…

My website and blog: https://www.geoffwatsonart.com/May 1, 2018 at 6:07 pm #607835almost there, just the rock on the right, and across the valley on left… had to correct another bloop, so once all is dry, will try to finish the grisaille this eve…
this is on acid free foamboard, half cut [32″x20]… when get to the canvas, will also be doing pen and ink, so can achieve the same detail…
and I see need correct that ‘L’ line on the low left, changing from another rock ledge to another roof… sometimes when looking at detail, tend to forget shift of perspective…

https://visioneerwindows.blogspot.comMay 1, 2018 at 7:08 pm #607836and this is the easel/board on which will first lay out paper to do the sketches, then transfer to canvas pegged here… the mattress goes up in the day, and easel moved out and sloped to work on…

http://teresawentzlerart.wordpress.comMay 2, 2018 at 10:46 am #607837the cat is a replay of my memorial of my first cat, as seen in “Shadow Watch”, from back in the 70s –
and note – even then had glimmerings of a cliff city… and yes, this poor Polaroid is all I have left of remembering this work….

https://visioneerwindows.blogspot.comMay 2, 2018 at 6:03 pm #607838the grisaille of “Preludes” is essentially done – am just holding off on the last bit for the moment as am thinking of adding yet another building down in that spot… but if decide not, then it will be greenery all the rest of the way…
then will clear glaze all over, including back to keep the board from warping… THEN, once dry, can begin coloring…

https://visioneerwindows.blogspot.comMay 3, 2018 at 3:49 pm #607839as said, the grisaille is done, tho might add a wee bit on the apartments crossing the valley upper left, balconies, etc to give more sense of many apartments… adding greenery to the right rocks will be via colors…
being humid here in Florida, will let it sit for a couple days to make sure ink fully dry, so when do the clear glazing, there will be no smears – as has happened a few times in impatient past…..
