I love the syrup on the waffles... it looks like it might pour right off the painting- SO real.

Re: Waffles and Asparagus
Yeah, beautifully done!
Question: do you work from photos? I would imagine with that detail you do. And if so, do you photograph the subjects, or find source photos? Just curious.
You make me want to paint food!! And eat it, also.

Re: Waffles and Asparagus
Thank you Ruthie!
Melody, I mainly work from photos that I have taken myself, but I also use other photos I find that are interesting or a challenge to paint (like the waffles). I've used the R.I.L. here for a variety of subjects to paint also. Thank you for your comments!

Re: Waffles and Asparagus
lilbelle,
Your paintings inspire me. I like the simple colors and the great detail you put into your work. One thing I don't like about realistic art is that it looks like a photograph. Your art is far more powerful than photography. Art to me is seeing the work that is put into a piece. It is hard for an artist to paint something realistic and make it a painting where you can see the color variation and values that a photograph can not even try to pick up. Your artwork is awesome it brings life to where you just want to take a bite out of that fruit or vegetable and smell the flowers, and pet the animals. You say you self taught yourself the to paint, who inspired you?
Thank you for sharing your pieces of art.
