Re: Playing With Greens

I really love your handling of the sky in both of these. Yes, great variety and truthfulness in your greens, but the skies are especially fab.

Re: Playing With Greens

Hi John thank you for the bigger image size, great to be able to really study your lovely paintings. It looks like a windy day in your bridge painting. A breezy day in the top tree painting. Makes the painting lively and I feel as if I am there! Do you have any connections to England? I notice you are interested in John Constable. I adore his cloud/sky studies. I do like the mossy greens in your first painting. It is hard to know how colourful Constable's paintings were originally. In the two very expensive books I have on his works and life the colours always look a bit earthy and lacking in much colour. That could just be the effect of the age of the paintings or how the photographer captured his paintings. Carry on the great work, you have a natural flair for painting trees!

Re: Playing With Greens

Hi Reed,
Thanks so much for the wonderful comments....love working cloudcover with atmosphere into a landscape scene. Have a great week my friend.

Hi Caroline
Thanks so very much for the wonderful comments....yes I am a big John Constable fan. My hunch is some of the work is just so old that fading has commenced in some sort of fashion and of course the paints won't have the same hue or lustre that they once had
I do have some ancestry from the United Kingdom.
Thanks again and I look forward to your next wonderful painting.

Re: Playing With Greens

A wonderful way to use acrylics. My fave is the first one, the perspective seems better, and I like the contrast blue.

Re: Playing With Greens

Michael - not sure how but it appears I missed your comments on the previous page. ( My apologies for not replying earlier ) Thanks so much as always my friend. Appreciate your taking the time always and yes I enjoy working those rich blues against the varied greens.
Have a great weekend coming up.
Arnie - thanks very much for your comments....I always enjoy working foliage especially when working it into the reflections on water. Constable always seemed to depict this so well in his many rural scenes. ( again sorry for the tardy reply but I missed your and Michael's comments)

Re: Playing With Greens

These have come out well. I immediately thought Constable when I saw the first one.

Re: Playing With Greens

Great job with these John. I really like your interpretation and the variation in your greens really creates depth in these.
