A Halloween tale

Acrylics with touches of black marker on paper. Around 10”X7.5”.
Posted it a few days ago at the acrylics forum.
Cheers!

Re: A Halloween tale

That little girl is about to Halloween
Ghosts and Goblins
Oh my oh my!
But shouldn't she be afraid?
Scared?
Terrified?
Frightened?

Not that girl.
She is strong and brave.
Did anyone really believe a child in a costume
would scare her after what she has seen?

Bare chested older men on horses?
Screaming orange dictator wanna-bees?
Old ladies doddering toward retirement?
Evil men chasing females promising success?

The world is full of dangers, real dangers,
scary costumes don't give her a chill.
She is wise beyond her few years
you can see it in her eyes.

She is our best hope for a bright future.
Time to erase the hold old folks have had for too long
Youth has fresh ideas.
Experience of the past only works
if there are new voices singing its praises.

Re: A Halloween tale

Kay, 😂😂
Susan, much obliged as always.
Greggo, well you add so many dimensions. Just great!
Btw, someone over at the acrylics forum made a reference to Greta Thunberg.
Very apt and may be easily read between your own lines.

Re: A Halloween tale

It seems the girl is smiling, maybe she is possessed with supernatural spirits.

There was a 70's TV series I watched this week called, Night Gallery. This reminds of those paintings in it.

Great work!

I loved that show, I can remember watching it as a teen and waiting for every painting they'd show. It didn't hurt that I was really into "horror" at the time, reading HP Lovecraft and Steven King. Not so much now, tho.

Nice work on this, fun dichotomy of the happy kid with the evil right behind her.
