First time kiln operator

Newbie here. I bought a Paragon GF with manual pyrometer a few years ago and have just gotten brave enough to try it out. I am reading the manual and it tells me to insert the thermocouple into a tapered peephole of a GF-series kiln using a drilled peephole plug. The peephole plug that came with the kiln doesn't have a hole. How do I drill a hole through this? I have a dremel...will that work? Thanks for any help!

If it is a hollow ceramic plug, you can use a dremmel. I would use a diamond bit to cut the hole. Of course if you have some ceramic fiber (frax) just stuff some in the hole around the thermocouple.
