Re: Welcome to Fiber Arts! Please introduce yourself!!
Hey all,
I'm Effie. I've posted on WC a few times, but this is my first day exploring the fibre arts forum.
I study at the School Of Art in Canberra, Australia. I'm doing a degree in design arts majoring in textiles (with an emphasis on weaving and pattern design).
You can look at some of my work here.
I have also studied drawing and printmaking.
Hey hello!!

Re: Welcome to Fiber Arts! Please introduce yourself!!
Hello, I am a fiber worker. Most of what I make these days is items from re-purposed wool which is felted. I create fish pillows, turtles, oven mitts, love note hearts for a micro-business called Bwyneth Fiber Arts.
I am just starting free form knitting and crochet spirals, which I find beautiful, and useful as mala mats...but I think I might frame them!
I prefer to work with wool and silk, both as yarn and fabric. That's about it!

Re: Welcome to Fiber Arts! Please introduce yourself!!
HIIIIIIIII everyone!! I normally spend my time in the painting area (acrylics & abstracts) of WC. Recently, I started getting back into my love for felting and have been near exploding with so many new ideas. I have a running list going, lol.
I work mostly with needle felting and I'm rusty on the terminology, so bar with me please.
Can't wait to peruse this place and take a look at everyone's work - as well as getting more time to get further with my own projects - so I can start sharing and learning more.

Welcome,Pawn. I have all the supplies for needlefelting and have done a little of it but it is hard on the hands so the supplies are all put away.
Hope to see what all you come up with.

Welcome Pawn to our little corner of WC. We'd love to see your needle felting. I've done some of that and understand the fascination.

Re: Welcome to Fiber Arts! Please introduce yourself!!
Thank you! For a tiny bit of back story, I have always adored felt, since I was in grade school. It was always just fascinating to me. Then back in 2006 or so, I got into making synthetic and woolen dread falls ( https://www.google.com/search?q=drea...1366&bih= 643) . That interest kinda opened me up to wet felting as well as needle felting - though mainly wet felting wool roving - as that was the easiest.
It wasn't until doing some random research for a few new projects/ideas that I came across felting again and that childlike fascination came rushing back in.
I have a 2 year old (st patrick's day baby) little girl - so my time is limited - but I will post images as soon as I can!!
