First Try in Oil Pastels

Just for kicks I thought I'd post the first picture I ever did in oil pastels. I did this back in April 2001 then quickly dismissed oil pastels as being nothing more than crayons with a fancy name. Now I've picked them up again and discovered that I kind of like the little buggers.

Talking

MM,

I have been trying to get the hang of oil pastels, but am not having any luck. I'm not giving up though, I just need to learn how to manipulate them.

Here is my first oil pastel, its was posted here a few months back. I did alot of blending just rubbing hard with my fingers, with the colours layed on pretty heavy, no turps used at all. This was just a really cheap set too(less than $8.), would still like to try a more expensive set sometime.

Anita,

That was you first try? WOW!! It looks incredible. I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one who puts on the colors thick and blends with her fingers (on my later pieces not the one posted above that I did). Anyway, glad to see the work of another oil pastelist.
