Gessoed paper, a4 size, i wanted a very simple still life set-up but with one strong color in it. I tried to paint it as simple as possible. Not too familiar with still lifes, hopefully that will change in the future.

That looks exceptionally good, to me! I always appreciate the old masters’ concept of having a subject mysteriously emerge from an inky background, and you have done that with this subject!:thumbsup:

The super saturated color versus all the neutrals draws me in. Very nice.

The contrast of the rich, deep colors with the bright yellow is striking and beautiful. I think dark rich colors add so much mystery. Reminds me of the blacks you can get in printmaking with etchings.

It is very nice. Your painting reminds me of Salvador Dali, not only in style, but a dead animal inside a jar was a gift he gave to a friend.

I’d be interested to know more about how you went about painting this? I’m currently only confident in painting landscapes, but this painting is just stunning to me. Not sure if it’s just the contrast or what – but I love it.

Honestly, you have a great flair for presenting the contrasting colours reasonably well. The glass against the dark background is quite intriguing and the subtle changes in the yellow base are very appealing.
