Keep it as black and white. Its better than a normal grisaille.

offcentre, new member here myself and I'm glad I stumbled on your thread. I'm in your exact situation in the fact that I'm new to oils (they were a recent gift) but I'm a pencil/graphite artist primarily. I was always a little nervous about playing in paints since I'm used to the feel of pencils in my hand, but want to stretch myself artistically. Anyway, I just wanted to I can totally relate to everything you've written and say it's looking great so far and I look forward to watching the progress on this. Thank you for sharing!
