Blood Moon Over Wetlands

This is a piece from earlier this year that I was never happy with. I have done some major revisions on it. There is a glare on the picture in the upper right corner, washing out the sky and moon a bit...took picture with my cell phone.
Acrylic on canvas 26"x40"

Re: Blood Moon Over Wetlands

Not sure how this happened, but the picture above is a close up of the painting.
This is the painting in it's entirety. This time there is glare in thde upper left corner of the sky.

Thanks for looking and commenting, Artmarkie.

Lovely texture and colors in this, Jim. I am having trouble finding the horizon, but not sure that matters and maybe was intended. The treatments of the sky and the water are both quite compelling.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Hairy, Kay and Susan.

Yes, Susan there really is no horizon line, just some abstract creative license.

Wonderful work, Jim. The 2nd picture is sublime. Love it! (I see an eye below the moon, probably not purposeful, but still nice.)

Re: Blood Moon Over Wetlands

The painting is mesmerizing.
the colors are perfect
composition works

but.
the lack of a horizon also bothers me.
often the bottom of a moon that low in the sky will flatten and become one with water. This moon retains its full roundness, distorting where the horizon might be expected.

But it is only my opinion.
Actually I really love this piece
