Re: What kind of pen do you use?

I use the styrofoam for filling as well. The styrofoam keeps everything upright. Your jar of rice works too but I guess nothing tipped over for you?

Re: What kind of pen do you use?

Derwent just started selling a new line of pens called "Graphik".

Their series of black pens from that line are aptly called "Line Makers" and I loved them as soon as I used them and they've now become my favorite pens to use. I wrote a review about them here: http://www.everythingis-art.com/2014...view-with.html

I used a Faber Castell felt tip pen (XS). Lousy. The felt tip point wears off after a week.

Re: What kind of pen do you use?

New here...

I've always used Koh-i-Noor Rapidograph pens. My favorites are the 0, 2x0 and 3x0, but I was lucky enough to find a 7-pen set with ink and 2 nib keys for only $45 a few years ago. I love the clarity of line, and don't even mind the maintenance.

Re: What kind of pen do you use?

Interestin question. Rapidograph would be my weapon of choice, however, any old pen will do if you are in the mood.
The sketch below was done with a tiny mapping pen using sepia ink on tinted parchment.
The line is so fine that you can't really see the pressure changes from this very small nib.

rat.

Re: What kind of pen do you use?

I use a variety Of pens like most here, but so far I most enjoy my rOtring ArtPen.

I do become curiouser and curiouser about radiograph and isograph pens as I look around.

Anyway back to lurking and learning.

Re: What kind of pen do you use?

I'm a complete novice, but I have a thing for old pens, so for now I'm sticking with the Speedball/Hunt world, mostly the 512 and 102. As everyone does, I'm sure, I keep a few more portable pens for sketching by surprise, or practice during lunch, for which I stick with microns and their brush pens.

Still learning control of the dip pens, but I'm trying not to let that push me into getting a technical pen too soon, though I do want one of those eventually.
