Another beauty Richard, this could be a turbulent ocean with the turquoise sea, love the specks of red too. Can you frame these works done on the linen paper?

Richard: Your Turquoise Foothills are stunning ... great colors - I am amazed how you wield your knife so effectively ... very impressive -

Excellent painting, Richard. I love the contrast between the turquois and those rusty reds and oranges. It has a stunning effect!

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

A sunny day in Southwest Florida yesterday - a nice day for plein air!
Done in a city park not far from our home.

Palette knife on 225lb heavy linen paper, done quickly with full arm motion, Chroma Interactive acrylics, 16x12

14x11 same process as above

Fantastic plein air works! Do you ever have a crowd gather to watch you paint? It must be fun to see these bold paintings come to life!

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

Thanks Jenna - 2 or 3 people watch sometimes - I'm not one for conversation when I paint so I probably seem unsociable :>) so the conversations never progress very far. This of course is my intention :>) I always try to pick a spot far away from where people might congregate:>)
People always try to relate cost to time spent - eg an hourly wage! When people ask me, I say this painting took me 20 years - everything I've learned during the past 20 years is represented by this painting. That can end a conversation real quick! :>))

Richard: Wonderful painting ... a pleasant warm feeling you have created here - Like your retort to the gathering folks vis-a'-vis the "time is money" thing -

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

Some more Southwest Florida scenes - the next 2 are 16x12 palette knife on 225lb heavy linen paper, Chroma Interactive acrylics in an expressionistic loose style with gusto and semi abstract passages.

The next one is 12x16, palette knife, loose expressionistic style with semi abstract passages.

After this fling with plein air Gulf of Mexico scenes it's back to Southwest desert scenes for me. :>))

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

Well, I'm back into my SW mode again - I did a warm up painting of the beginning of a trail we hiked quite often in the Sangre Mtns in NM.

12x16 palette knife, 250lb linen paper.

I then did a painting on a 24x30 gallery wrapped heavy canvas, palette knife and the scene is carried out onto all 4 sides of the canvas. This is a conglomeration of many scenes in my memory which results in what I call a " mindscape "
