Re: Round the Campfire ~ February

Donna- just wait until this summer when your down there in 100 degree, humid heat and we up here in 70 degree dry heat! Paybacks....

Jenna-happy bday!

Dj-those pieces are outstanding! That dog portrait is my new fav pet portrait that I've seen from you, it is so alive!

Jim- sorry to hear about your back, hope your new desk works out. I think cats are secretly plotting to take over the world It would be great if someday I could make it down to AZ to meet up wiht you and Max and our other wet canvas friends..it could happen...

Delivered my paintings to the western spirit show at the Cheyenne Fronteir Days Old West museum today. This is not the more prestigious art show that occurs during Fronteir Days Rodeo (which is invitation only I think). But this looks to be a good show, with lots of great artist and a good place to start. Show opens March 2.

Also, my daughter Ashley got a 3rd place for a 3D art piece her art teacher submitted to a local show. This show was junior high and high school kids with theme being "art and music" or something like that. She and a bunch of other kids got awards on stage just before the Cheyenne symphony orchestra played a concert. Kinda cool, we had other engagement to go to so we did not stay for the concert. Inspired by Jennas stippling, Ashley is currently working on her first stippling drawing at home and its looking really good so far.

Not much going on here...kinda blah...dog days of winter I guess. Talk at ya all lader...

Re: Round the Campfire ~ February

Hi everyone!

Hi Deb. Thanks very much! I am pretty excited about it. It's been a long journey with a lot of hard work along the way. Worth it though, and I enjoyed every moment of the process. Thanks for that virtual chocolate.

Hi Jim. Thanks!

Hi Ron. Thanks! Good luck at the show! Very exciting news; be sure and let us know how it goes. Congratulations to Ashley! That's awesome! I would love to see her stippled drawing! I hope she'll share it here with us.

Hello to the rest of the gang!

Re: Round the Campfire ~ February

Sad here today. As soon as Michael gets home we're taking sweet Chester for one last ride and Dr. Rosa will end his pain. We will miss this goofy guy so much.

He's chasing a mechanic fish - we don't really keep Nemo in the pool.

Re: Round the Campfire ~ February

Linda, i can see from the photo chester was a special soul. There was some Old Testament verse somewhere ( cant remember, sorry) that read something like "God holds the soul of every living thing.". If so, then wherever Chester is, he's in mighty good hands. Hugs.

Re: Round the Campfire ~ February

Well, I entered a quote contest on the Grumbacher facebook page today and this was my entry. We were supposed to take a quote and create a piece to go with it. Its just some cheapo oil paint that I got in a kit smeared with a pallet knife on some cheapo oil paper that I got for $1. I hope I win, and I need to keep reminding myself of this quote (sorry it's so hard to read...I don't really know how to add text to pictures as you can tell )

Re: Round the Campfire ~ February

Linda, so sad to hear about Chester. He looks like an adorable friend.

Donna, your entry has got to have a good chance because it is certainly bold. What I like about it most is that it looks so organic like it wasn't painted. Not overworked or over thought–just very enrgetic and expressive.

Ron, very exciting to hear about the show. Wish I could see it. Great to hear about Ashley's award and interest in art. We will be expecting a post of her work. Shannon (middle child) says she want me to teach her to paint. That should be fun.

Re: Round the Campfire ~ February

Hi Catherine. Thanks so much!

Hi Donna. I like that saying very much and it is so true. I tend to be a little stingy with supplies because I don't want to waste them. As if I can't buy more at the art store! Good luck with the entry!

Hello to everyone else. Linda, more hugs for you. Take care of yourself.
