Yesterday my studio looked like this - I felt soooo lonely - my wife and my doughter went up to a summit
(I will post it soon - its finished - but I have to wait for an overcast sky to take a good photo )

Is there an "all of the above" option?

I paint on a flat surface. I have never been able to get the hang of painting upright, especially with watercolor, when I use the spread of water/color in wet/wet so often. It pools otherwise.

Tabletop easel, best of both worlds in my opinion

Re: Poll: Working on an easel, drawing board or tabletop?

I have been working on a desk top with the paper kept flat on the desk. I have a small desktop easel box that will hold the paper at various angles but have never used it (actually forgot I had it). I'll give it a go this week.

All of the above depending on what I'm working on and if I feel like having some messy fun or fine detail

Use a block when I paint outside, balanced on my lap. Have an easel, never used it for watercolor painting. Indoors, use a drawing board, at a slight slant.

Re: Poll: Working on an easel, drawing board or tabletop?

The hubs bought me a drafting table for Christmas ---so I think that counts for drawing board/angle in your pole. Before this, I had bought for $5 a weird looking thing at a garage sale that I though was a podium: it had a top that could tilt but was in 2 sections so you could keep one half of the table flat or at a different angle. I kinda miss it, honestly, because I could put my palette or laptop on the flat part and have a tilted watercolor surface right next to that. Now everything is tilted!

Re: Poll: Working on an easel, drawing board or tabletop?

Table top, mainly, sometimes I use an A2 drawing board.

This, SAA, UK, well worth it

It's too bulky though, it takes over the whole arty space I have.

The table doesn't work as well, being flat.
