Re: Mama And Cub Grizzlies Wip

You want to know what funny is...dead serious....... the fact that about 3 months ago we DID have a cub in the freezer at work. It was an illegal harvest and our game wardens use our freezer for keeping evidence. We have gotten on to them for leaving stuff in too long, so it has been long thrown out.

What have we learned from this? ALWAYS check with Sagefish first if you need the most off the wall request, you never know.

Pamela, you were just a month away from having a bear paw for a paper weight!

Re: Mama And Cub Grizzlies Wip

Sounds like the show went off with a bang! I had a dream that I went and of course forgot my make-up and shoes just had my big sorels boots. It was very disconcerting. In the dream we never actually got to the show it was a whole night of trying to get ready to go. Weird!!

Anywhooo I have done a little more work on the bears so here is where we are at!

Gorgeous! Am I going to get to meet this one in the Fall? I love the way her face is scrunched against the tree.

I'm sure you've mentioned this in another thread, but what do you use to transfer your drawings?

Re: Mama And Cub Grizzlies Wip

I use Cactus transfer paper. non smear, erasable...it comes out of Calgary! Its is a bit waxy but you can scrape it off with your blade as you go of it erases fairly well. I don't usually have to worry about that most of the time. I go ever the drawing so many times there isn't much chance of any surviving! It does interfere somewhat in smaller areas like eyes and such but I used the black transphere paper on the Gorillas and kept getting lost so I'd rather deal with the white.
Yes I imagine they will be at the Reflections show!

Thanks, Pam, sounds interesting. I use the "slight impression in the board" method of transferring my drawings and I'm thinking it's time to use somthing a bit more obvious, ie. easier for my aging eyes to see. Before Christmas, when I was working on my boards late at night I noticed that it was becoming more difficult to see the impression from the pen over the tracing paper. I'm getting old

Re: Mama And Cub Grizzlies Wip

I love how that eye still has so much personality in it even though it's scrunched up really small. Gorgeous work so far!!

And thanks for the tip about the transfer paper. I've got white transfer paper here but I'm not thrilled about how it works and yours sounds more userfriendly. Another thing to add to my list when I get home.

Re: Mama And Cub Grizzlies Wip

I was worried the eye would look misshapen but will turn out ok, its the other one that I think is going to cause me more grief... in the ref. all you see is a blue haze in the eye not really a reflection because the eye is barely open but there is no discernable pupil or any other form of definition so going to reinvent something or she will look alien!

Re: Mama And Cub Grizzlies Wip

Pamela,

This piece is moving along quite beautifully. Will you be adding color to it?

Re: Mama And Cub Grizzlies Wip

Not sure yet...It usually tells me a little further in if it wants to be colored. Sounds weird but usually thats the way it goes!
