Little Ford WIP

I had some time while waiting for another project to come together so I started this painting. It was supposed to be the mate to the '53 Olds painting that I just finished but in the middle of everything, I decided to change the format up a little. This one is again on a titanium plate and but the size for this one is 1"x1". Funny thing is, this one has been incredibly relaxing to work on. So more updates soon!

Isn't it great when you just enjoy a painting. This looks like it's going to be another stunner. Can't wait to see what else you do with it!

Re: Little Ford WIP

So right!! I seriously think it helps me retain what sanity I have left

When things seem out of control, I always gravitate to the easel. There is something so steadying about knowing that for at least a little while, I can work on something that is within my control.

Tonight is a good example. I managed to get some more done on this one and took my mind off things that I needed to relax about.

Re: Little Ford WIP

That is amazing! You should be really relaxed after that.

Hee hee, this one WAS the relax

Here is a better one to show the scale. This one had the surface area of one of the razor blade paintings minus the hole, which was very, very nice

Re: Little Ford WIP

Thanks Kurlie. I was lucky enough to get a hold of a number of small pieces of titanium. Basically, I sand them then use thin tape to mask off a border around the edge. From there I take them to a body shop and they are primed with a catalyzed primer that bites into the metal. Then I just do the painting. It's a lot like working on gessoed mdf.

Because I use a waterborne automotive paint for the art, I can take the painting back to the body shop when I am finished and they clear coat it just like a car.
