Heikki - thanks so much for the David Attenborough links, they made me smile. He's my hero! The work of the Russian artist in your other link is lovely. Her drawings certainly would make beautiful Christmas cards.

Elaine - we used to grow Bizzy Lizzies (Impatiens) in our very shady garden and they loved it. Don't know if you can get them where you live though.

Bizzy Lizzies! I've never heard them called that! I love it. Impatiens are the go-to shade plant here. I put those in my pots. Besides black-eyed Susans, they are just about the only color that's not green that I have in the yard.

Your comment convinced me to start the thread, Vena... Have you noticed it?

Raquel, I have noticed it. You have had a number of responses which is good. If I can remember how to post I will post my very first piece. I did have a line drawing with instructions. I am not a very prolific artist, always trying new things and not producing a lot of anything but I am having a lot of creative fun.

Re: Outside the Lines Chat Thread ~ May/June 2017

Koh-i-noor Hardtmuth released some retro sets:

Not my cup of tea as I prefer tins. Neat sets anyway.

I'm trying to make a comparative colour chart of Faber-Castells including its middle class brands and it's a tedious job.

Re: Outside the Lines Chat Thread ~ May/June 2017

I just happened to buy a Derwent XL Charcoal set and it was a positive surprise. The solid sticks don't feel like charcoal at all - they are rather soft pastels! The six hues - Ochre, Sanguine, Mars violet, Sepia, Black and White - can't do wonders but on black paper even Ochre is opaque and can be mixed with Black and White to an olive green.

Has anyone tried Cretacolor Art Chunky Set?

@Manedwolf: sounds interesting. I could use a soft, opaque white charcoal
