Re: Woodland Scene- wip

Put in a few hours work on that middle section and worked also on the spruce branches that curve forward on the right...more washes on the right ledge as well. Think I am pulling your eye away from that middle tree. A few busy days ahead so will be posting again next week. Thanks for watching Kathy, everyone.

Re: Woodland Scene- wip

Suzanne, This painting is looking spectacular. To me - It's one of those paintings that holds my attention by exploring the whole scene rather than focus on one particular area (Like a Thomas Kinkade painting.) I get lost in paintings like this but I think it's a good thing. I love it.

Re: Woodland Scene- wip

I am loving the sun-dappled look, that is so beautifully done, just the right amount of shade without it being too dark and overwhelming! Just "sun dappled" !!! Can't wait for the finale!

Re: Woodland Scene- wip

Thank you Kiwi and John for following my progress with this piece and offering encouragement and praise for the effects I'm working at achieving.
I've been away for a while and having come back temporarilly have had a chance to see where I am going with the darks and shadows. I will concentrate my efforts in building some flow of movement over to the right forground and back. I'll be gone again for a while so this will be slow going. This is where I am now with it and photographed under electric light.
Thanks for looking

WOW - this is really turning into quite the project for you. It's nice to have something 'in progress' to work on when the time arises. It's coming along beautifully!

a very nice "woodsy" painting. Looking forward to seeing how you handle the rocks.

Re: Woodland Scene- wip

Thanks for looking Jan and Lil and your positive comments. I have finally been able to get back to this and have been using blue black washes with browns and greens and reds to define areas and patterns. Still some cleaning up to do in lost edges etc. but think its done. Will sit for a while before posting in the gallery... C&C greatly appreciated.

These colours are more reflective of the darks.

This has been great watching this 'growing' and a lovely finish - very well done!I suspect as well that judging by your close ups that its one of those paintings that is even MORE impressive in real life and close up.

Suz, I am carried away by your rocks with the light and shadows hitting them! A lovely finish, and I thank you very much (I know we all do) for showing your progress! Wonderful. Wish you had more "time on your hands" to paint more often!!!!!!!

Many, many thanks Suzanne and Kiwi for your kind words and "watching it grow". Thankyou to all who took time to look and comment. I'm on to something new (smaller).
