Re: Truck stop WIP (Finished)

Hmmm Deirdre...your grass is telling two different stories...not that it can't happen but it makes the viewer wonder if it is error. I like the veiwer to wonder but not whether or not I am in error.

The back grass is standing tall and strong ...or a different variety I presume from it's height but the frontal grass on the right is very wimpy or trampled...I am not sure which. I love the way you have carried that lilttle bit of sunlight onto that area but think you could have added an even stronger light or more of it moving from where it is to the right but not to the left as the shadow of the truck would cut it off.

I would love to see some of that frontal grass in a more vertical layout...perkier perhhaps and possibly some darker hidden areas for depth in the biggest masses.

This being one of my favourite subjects (abandoned vehicles)...I love it and you have done it very well sunshine.

Cheers, Dianna

Re: Truck stop WIP (Finished)

Dianna...you are right...but then so am I! The grass around the truck is trampled!! Here is the ref...

Whilst I haven't copied every grass and weed...I have tried to be faithful to the ref...perhaps I should get my artistic licence out of my back pocket?

So we are both right... Do two rights make a wrong

Artistic license, yes...we should all carry one of those. Great work Deirdre!! I think this is one of your biggest endeavours to date

Cheers, Dianna

Oh, this is so beautiful! I just found this thread and enjoyed watching your progress. I cannot get ferns to grow as houseplants, and there they are growing out of the front of this lovely old truck! Wonderful work!!!

Just found this too, and it is fabulous! Love how those luxurious grasses and weeds and whatnot is taking posession of the old truck. The 'jungle' always wins.

You really found all those fabulous colourshifts in the truck, and your rust is great! Very ambitious project, and you succeeded!

Re: Truck stop WIP (Finished)

REally Really nice. I like the trampled grass.. someone has been here to take a peak, perhaps searching for forgotten change under the seat or just some kid pretending to go for a ride. Nifty! Good job!

Re: Truck stop WIP (Finished)

absolutely stunning !! ... truly fabulous job !! ... great reference and great painting of it !!! ... i kinda see dianna's point tho ... in the reference there are more of the odd spikes of grass in many of the clumps, esp in front of the bumper and i think a few more standing blades and standing/bent blades would be effective in adding to that bedraggled look of the location and the truck ... but that doesn't mean it doesn't look spectacular as you have it !! ... ... it's just my 2˘ worth ...

Re: Truck stop WIP (Finished)

fabulous finish Deirdre but how about adding a suggestion of the foreground grass colour into the uprights in the rear to blend the two areas.

Awesome! The rust is superbly rendered. The lighting, the colors, all great! (sorry, everybody else already used all of the descriptive adjectives).

Fantastic!!
I love the reds and greens together.
These old trucks have such personality...it's that face on the front that makes one smile.

Re: Truck stop WIP (Finished)

Thanks everyone...you've been very kind!

I've fiddled a bit more...not sure if it works...but I have to stop before the weeds take over!

Re: Truck stop WIP (Finished)

Great progress and finish on this one! I'm glad you refined the back tire- my only suggestions would be: the very light leaves in far upper right are a bit distracting, the bumper could be darker.
