Re: Egg Falls WIP

Wow, Dianna, this looks great. Really admire what you are doing here. Thanks a lot for taking the trouble to do an egg in stages. I can see what you mean about remodelling with the background. That makes it easier for the outer edges, but getting the perfect round shape in 3D also needs very careful shading. I think that is what makes painting eggs so difficult. What is the difference between satin and sateen. Is one the natural one and the other artificial? I did not even know sateen existed.
Just a little comment about one of your eggs. Hope you don't mind and it might be my monitor. The first egg on the right at the top. I think it still needs a little bit of shading on the left hand side. It seems to bulge (if that is the right word) a bit. Maybe I am wrong here, but at the moment I am a bit obsessed about painting eggs.
Did your frame arrive? Have you been able to sort out the colour?
Anyway, good luck with the rest of this beautiful painting.

Re: Egg Falls WIP

Dianna - I'd have have made omlettes and wrapped the satin around me, which I would have enjoyed ...whereas you make eggciting pictures for the world to enjoy! Mind if I sit in on this one?

Re: Egg Falls WIP

Thaks so much Netty and Violet for sticking with me here. I'm afraid I'm being very lazy with this one. A lot of sitting and sipping going on here and not much work.

Dierdre

Re: Egg Falls WIP

Sorry, Miss. Won't do it again . Here is what I mean.
I know I have a critical eye. Part of my problem when painting. Maybe you don't see it in reality. Then clearly there is not a problem.

Re: Egg Falls WIP

Why hello Merethe. Gee it's good to hear from old friends!!

Well I beg to differ Marina. That egg looks fine to me...however, I actually thought you were talking about the other one and upon closer inspection, I found this area of the left egg here needed a little fleshing out so I did that. Thanks for making me take an closer look

Cheers, Dianna

Re: Egg Falls WIP

Hi Dianna,

Another impressive work.
I guess that on this one, the fact that we paint light is quite visible.

Kind regards,

José

P.S. now, what about painting some traditional portuguese Xmas treats ?
I bet those aren't so hard to find in Canada with so many portuguese there :-)

Hey! I'm in trouble even before I do anything? There is nothing to push and shove about when I WAS HERE FIRST!!

Re: Egg Falls WIP

Well, I promise not to shove, I'll just stand on your shoulders so I can see.
I believe yu are using sateen, Dianna, though I too am going back through the pages of memory to my dress design days.
This is simply delicious looking. Glad the Jeep CDs were enjoyed and isn't there some gorgeous vistas in that valley? I understand about time as I'm still meeting myself around corners and my nice clean house is all scattered about with art stuff again, though I could sure get it spiffy were you to visit again.
I've been scared of eggs but this sure makes me want to try one.

Re: Egg Falls WIP

Just browsing through and almost missed this. Dianna this is fabulous! What you can do with a piece of satin and lowly eggs...pick me up off the floor! I'll be here for the grand finale.

Re: Egg Falls WIP

Must be my monitor, Dianna. I don't see anything wrong with the left egg. So they must both be fine. Anyway I love your painting and I am very impressed. I will be quiet the rest of the lessons . Really am enjoying it.
