Trapper's Cabin, Bayou Manchac

Fell in love with quite a few works at the "Finding Acadia" exhibit in the New Orleans Museum of Art over the holidays.

Did my best here to study Richard Clague's painting of the same name.

12"x18" on an ACM panel.

Well done.
I had never heard of Richard Clague.
Read all about the "Bayou School"...
Quite fascinating!

Thanks!!

I really was blown away by most of the paintings in that exhibit. And given my wife's family history in the area (and I grew up there too), it was a subject matter I really took to.

Although living so far away, I have always had a fascination with the culture and music of that area.
The cuisine is delicious, as is the music!
Well, you know what I mean

And I even got the name wrong. It was "Inventing Acadia".

I had to hunt for it but found the exhibition. Keep going with this style, this is a nice picture.
