Re: Ruth's Creations

Lovely to see your excellent work.

I knew a German lady who did the most incredible fine lace knitting. Like yours, it's beautiful.

Re: Ruth's Creations

Doug,
Please tell Ruth how spectacular both the star and the dolls are.

What is the size on the star? Just trying to get a sense of scale. It's a striking photo, the red against the neutral, with the shadows showing the lace work so well. Truly a classic! And the detailing on the dolls!

Seeing Ruth's work prompts me to share a quote hanging on my wall, from The Woven Road blog:

When we engage in fiber arts, we are creating something, be we are also participating in historic traditions tens of thousands of years old. You are not only making art for your soul and for future generations, you are embodying the work of our ancestors.

Re: Ruth's Creations

Thank you Jen, I suppose it about 30 inches point to point. She saw one in a window in Germany and our German friend was admiring it so Ruth went in and bought the pattern. On our next visit she presented her with a star and she couldn't believe she hadn't bought it in the store. We liked it so much I was delighted when she made another for us.

Yes, she is using her hands to make things for posterity sometimes.
