I’m doing a small commission of green apples and have done a Pastel version first (posted). The final will be a square format- this was done before that option. Many glitches that I will correct are in this one, but a good start to shift mediums.

I thought for a second I had shifted to a parallel universe, I KNOW I saw this in pastels!

Your version in oils is just as lovely. :)

Thanks Jessica! You and I both did- there are many things I like about the oil (clean color, the happy accidents) – just the wonderful things oils can do. The future will be amazing-

Thank you Sarah! A setup from life helps with that a lot for me. There are some quirks in the composition that will be corrected in the next version.

Beautiful – love how you added the purple behind the basket. Very good work!

hi Ken: such a great painting for the season. We have a large orchard close by, famous for their apples.
I like the kind of Cornucopia idea and the confident brush and color.

Thank you Loretta! The background is wholly improvised with the intent to support the elements-

Thanks Derek! I appreciate it- still working to have my brushes do the thing that I would like…

Thanks Simona! I appreciate you taking a look at both- there are differences about each that are good, and the hope is to have everything(!) show up in the final.

This latest version is in the new vertical format and larger at 9×12- moving toward the final size of 16×20. Much looser and faster application- working toward a more painterly process.

I’ve created an evening sky and barn into the window that really adds a lot to the story. Also will be adding something(?) more to the upper left curtain area, maybe a delicate pattern or textures- not a lot, just to add interest.
