Welcome to the Scavenger Hunts!
If you’ve participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one we would really appreciate it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting schedule in the Art From Life forum here:
https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=366347
Here are the rules for the hunt:
*All items on the list must be sketched from life – not imagination or photo reference.
*Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.
*You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count these objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one item.
*All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.
Do as many or as few of the items as you like. You don’t have to finish the entire list to participate. The Scavenger Hunt “week” will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.
Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you for each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome.
*** If you have some hunt sketches completed but little time to read/comment, please post your sketches anyways. Commenting is appreciated but not necessary. ***

Without pre-planning, sketch a figure you saw yesterday doing something … friend, mailman, spouse, etc. In other words, don’t decide today what you will sketch tomorrow, just glance back a day. This will be sort of like blind contour drawing. Ha.Use a different medium for a sketch on dark paper.
Do some or all in alphabetical order.
OK, so I’m using one of my old lists. I’m lazy, what can I say. Have fun…….

I wasn’t going to do the alphabetical one, but I liked it better that the other couple I looked at. Pbftttt. I need to get more creative on the lists so I will have something new in the big book. It doesn’t do watercolor well and colored pencil is sooooo slow for me. We have had a couple of good lists lately that I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked. Sigh…..

For my American friends, Burger King is considered a kind of lux brand for Bangkok people… So they decorate their wall and the whole place nice and clean. Tone and I had breakfast for two with the cost about 4 times, if we had regular Thai dishes for breakfast… I sketched pencil at scene but colored in at home…. Done with pencil + watercolor + India ink

Dave, your queen looks upset about her profile! Good job. Wine glass fits in our group for sure and nice work on the egg carton. We buy 18 at a time.
Ai, wow! Lots of zippers and so colorful. The Burger King sounds expensive. We have a new one here, too. We haven’t been in. I’ll have to go look and see if they have the mural! Thanks for the wip of the sketch. Excellent.
I sketched in the big book with a Prismacolor 03 and colored pencils. The cover is from a book my friend Kelly Borsheim wrote about her time painting on the streets in Italy. She moved from Bastrop to Italy a few years ago. Prolific artist and writer. http://borsheimarts.com/%5B/URL%5D And the new streamlined version (better on phones) http://kborsheim.faso.com/works

She has kept to tradition and is prolific in writing and her art works. I met her years ago. She was selling homemade candles to make money so she could do art and somehow got a sculpture made and has not slowed down. Love the glass and rich color. Yummy. Cheers!
Scatty, such a sweet little book. Not so much cats for me. Ha. I only have one little cat ceramic from Peru in my whole house.

My website https://jocastilloart.comNovember 11, 2018 at 10:28 am #725565We went to the Veterans Ceremony, car show and parade (well Veterans walk) yesterday. Made me smile when I saw the gentleman that was piping in the Colors and Veterans. Wearing a kilt! I took out my sketchbook but only had a couple of minutes before they marched off. Normally I guess I only see a kilt once a year. “Kilt” was on the last list. Ha.
