EP, I'm sure I've asked this before, but what sort of pen do you use on these?

Re: My WDE sketches 2011

Michelle, Debby, John, Chris, Rainy, Jackie, and Margo - thank you

Margo - I use a Pelikan fountain pen with medium nib and black water-soluble ink. Like so:

Wonderful work. It's fun to see the lines crossing the gap, only to become a part of another picture.

Re: My WDE sketches 2011

Nice set of drawings, EP! I checked out the reference images, and they were quite interesting, but no time to join in right now.

Debby - thanks

John - thanks

Chris - thanks, and yes I think so. I started this drawing nine big boxes on a page and now it's more like 15 on a page

Re: My WDE sketches 2011

EP the sketches in boxes intrigues me no end! What a very clever idea. The last bunch are very cool with the lines, I too like the grasshopper but the pooch steals the show!

Re: My WDE sketches 2011

You may have answered this question in another thread already, but do you sit down and draw all of the boxes first and then decide how to fill in or as you go along?

Re: My WDE sketches 2011

Rainy, Debby, and Margo - thank you. I draw more than nine boxes on a page, knowing I need to draw from 16 or 17 reference images. I then plan my paired boxes to ensure I have 17 unique scenes. Then I just go at it. I try to keep faces into one pane unless I feel I'll do it poorly so then I'll draw it across a break.

Re: My WDE sketches 2011

Your use of lines for background etc is very effective, more great little compositions / designs.
