Sacramento St. San Fran

Found an older painting the other day, and decided to heavily rework a few areas. I don't believe I ever posted it. This a wet San Fran Chinatown scene somewhere around Sacramento St. Oil on board 12 x 16.

I'll consider it a success if the wet feel comes through. Thanks Lyn!

Thanks much Drey. I'm always kind of torn between how much detail or refinement the elements require. I like the raw, unfinished of the immediate block in, and am always trying to decide just how much resolution an element like a car, sign, or building might need to be convincing, yet still stay kind of abstract. It's nice to hear your thoughts.. thank you!

Thanks Reed! I have to confess on the chinese though.. I'm making most of it up!! I have a feeling a native chinese speaker would give me a failing grade on my chinese characters! That said, I do love the graphic appeal of all foreign scripts... asian ones especially. Something so very cool about the handwritten feel of chinese lettering!
