This piece is done from a reference photo that I took last year of this tree down the road from us. It now has a house behind it! 14×20 on Arches cold press. I got busy with my sponges again after putting a simple blue wash on the right hand side. Brush work and washes used on the tree trunk. The photo is in the studio that I worked from…I think I am finished with this . C&C appreciated and thanks for looking.

Painting is not everything in life - but without painting everything is nothing!May 9, 2018 at 7:02 am #619275Suzanne,
You made the tree majestic. Skillful use of the sponges for the foliage and wonderful work with the brushes on the trunk and other elements.
Lovely painting, worth a frame and signature.

JoanMay 15, 2018 at 4:26 am #619284Nicely painted Suzanne. It is so easy to overpaint trees making them heavy and stiff but you have avoided this and the result is excellent. Glad you left out the house!
