Re: Stitch in Time August 2012

Eva, glad you found the doll. You were probably just tired last night. At an antique mall, they are expecting higher returns so price things accordingly.

Hi Jen. So glad you stopped by.

I had a long list of little things to get done today in preparation for the trip. Actually, the list was for today, tomorrow and Saturday before the trip. I now have nothing to do tomorrow. Well, I do. I need to play with the luggage tags, a little fold and staple. I can get that done today too. And, I need to pick up a few things at the store. DH only has one beer left in the fridge. And, yes, I finally ironed the wrinkled slacks.

Mom called this morning and when I said I wasn't packing until Saturday. She said, "that's not me, I'd be packing already today". I've found I usually only spend about an hour or so packing once the clothes are all clean. Why would I want to pack 2 or 3 days ahead of time?

I figure the rest of the day and tomorrow I'll just relax, maybe do some art or play computer games. No stress.

Debby I am with you on the packing. I usually don't pack until a couple of hours before we leave. It only takes about a half hour and then zip it up and I still have time to go around and make sure I haven't forgotten anything.

Jen forgot to HI before so Hi and you are always so so busy I am glad you can get on here once in a while.

Re: Stitch in Time August 2012

Hi gang, my fiber art for the day was ripping. I have a quilt top I made some time ago that I put a border on which I don't like at all, so off it comes and in it's place more blocks and setting squares and strips, all in the box ready to go on. The setting strips are homespun which I have a very hard time picking the stitches out of so it's the slow going kind of rip. I've thought about doing it for a while and keep thinking just finish it. But if I hate the border now, how will I feel after sleeping under it for a year or two. Much too much time invested in this piece to not rip it and make it pleasing to me. Also my power was out for an hour this morning and I couldn't think of anything else to do.

Today was laundry day, I thought those clothes would never dry! New cushy towels, the man thinks he needs to be enrobed in yards of heavy turkish towels. They do not dry quickly!!!! Oh well they are always the worst the first time you wash them.

I finally got my summer reading program going yesterday. I had a crick in my neck and shoulder from drawing the hummers whilst sitting in my butterfly chair, I thought my neck was well supported for that much looking up. Not...so I laid on the heating pad and read a book and then started another in the same series, of New Mexico based mysteries. Always a good way to find out about a place and be amused to boot!

Off to put the feet up and read the second.

Bon Voyage Debby.

Waving to everyone else, and now she is off...................

Hi Eva.

Margo, if you aren't happy with the border, you aren't happy with it. No sense in finishing something you don't like. Thanks for the "Bon Voyage".

I'm doing a few things today. Sorted the paperwork, making sure I've got all the tickets. Went through my wallet and pared it down to just the essentials. I've got a quarter inch of various credit cards, library cards, discount cards, etc. I just removed. My wallet is so much thinner, even with some cash in it. I figure I only need my driver's license, insurance cards and the credit card I'll be using on the trip.

I've also reduced my art supplies. I've decided since I have a small water color travel pallet, I don't need to bring water color pencils too. Instead of 3 fountain pens, I'm only bringing one. Instead of a small screw driver and extra blades for my pencil sharpener, I changed out the blade to a fresh one and will leave the replacements and screwdriver behind. I'm on the fence about my little spray bottle, to bring it or not. I've also left the graphite and colored pencils alone for now. But, may reduce how many of those I'll bring too. Thinking about carry weight here.

I was going to make a quick run to the store for a couple of things, but there is an air quality alert because they are burning the wheat fields. I'd rather not go out in it. DH and I were going to run errands tomorrow anyway and things can be gotten then.

Re: Stitch in Time August 2012

Sounds like you are all ready for your trip. I wish you happy and relaxing times. Don't forget the camera as we want to see lots of pictures. I have never been on a cruise and probably never will. Not into water all around me and no land to walk on.

I got a doll today in the mail. She has a bad eye and now I have to find out how to fix her. I will ask in my doll groups because I know someone knows. It is a walker hard plastic from the 50's so can't just pop the head off like you can on vinyl dolls.

I tried sewing today but just couldn't get into it and so am staying away from it.

Margo are we going to get to see that quilt with the new border?
