Tracks - x-post from Landscapes

I've finally started exploring the WestTexas landscape in gouache. This is near Christoval, south of San Angelo. I had stepped off the side of the highway to shoot an area, turned to return to the car, and there were these tracks in the grass. Sometimes, it seems, inspiration is in the opposite direction from where you're looking.

C&C welcome.

This is a beautiful piece, Ralph, you got the light in the sky and on the grass, lovely treatment of the greens. I would so like to be able to do this....it inspires me to try again, thanks!

I'm living proof that it's never to late to try again, Lynn. Beautiful photographs on your website... and your woodcuts and etchings are absolutely wonderful! Thanks for stopping and commenting.

Thanks, Ralph! I spent a bit of time with your website, too....nicely laid out, and more lovely paintings.

Oh, Ralph- I like this one the best yet- even better than "Trail". I'm sooo envious- I cannot paint like this- always go so tight. And landscapes at the moment are beyond me, but I'm trying...
Love this, love this.

Thanks, Carol! It's a constant fight to avoid tightening up with this medium. I've spent the last two years painting exclusively with gouache, and every painting is still a completely new experience. It's a never-ending learning curve. Keep at it.

I really appreciate that, Dave. Now if I can just find a couple of galleries that agree. Thanks!

Tex , there are plenty of Galleries in DC and surrounding area looking for artist. For any artist who is willing to take a few days spend them hitting the sidewalks you could get your works out there.
